2009-08-24: KISS Announces 2009 Tour Dates !!!
KISS announced this morning the North American dates of their "KISS ALIVE 35" tour, as they celebrate 35 years of rockin' !!! The tour kicks off with a rapidly-selling, special multiple-show engagement in Detroit Rock City beginning 9/25/09, where KISS will be playing the classic album that started it all: “KISS ALIVE” !!! The tour leg will then hit more than 40 additional cities before concluding in December ! THE TOUR HITS THE WACHOVIA CENTER IN PHILADELPHIA ON 10/12/09 !!! TICKETS GO ON SALE 8/29/09 !!! The show will feature a new stage set, pyro effects and all new costumes !!! Fans will be treated to a 2 1/2 hour set of KISS’s greatest hits, including "Rock and Roll All Nite," "I Was Made for Lovin' You," "Detroit Rock City," "God Gave Rock & Roll To You" and "Shout It Out Loud," as well as songs from the band's new album, "SONIC BOOM" !!! DAUGHTRY has announced a 36-date U.S. arena tour this Fall to support the group's new studio album, "Leave This Town". The opening acts will be main support THEORY OF A DEADMAN & CAVO !!! 2009-08-17: ZZ Top Plans To Continue Trek Without Aerosmith !!!
ZZ TOP has announced, in the wake of Aerosmith's scrapped tour due to frontman Steven Tyler's fall from a concert stage, tourmates, ZZ Top have mapped dates of their own this fall in many of the canceled tour's markets. As previously reported, Tyler suffered a broken shoulder and a cut to his head that required stitches after plunging from the stage during an Aug. 5th concert in Sturgis, SD. 2009-08-13: Guitar Legend Les Paul Dies At Age 94 !!!
LES PAUL, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on today. He was 94. According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. In 1952, Gibson Guitars began production on the Les Paul guitar. Pete Townsend of The Who, Steve Howe of Yes, jazz great Al DiMeola and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page all made the Gibson Les Paul their trademark six-string. Over the years, the Les Paul series has become one of the most widely used guitars in the music industry. In 2005, Christie's auction house sold a 1955 Gibson Les Paul for $45,600. Les will be missed by many !!!

2009-08-12: Alice In Chains Collaborate With Elton John On New Record !!!
ALICE IN CHAINS have revealed that ELTON JOHN makes a guest appearance on the band's upcoming album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", playing piano on the title track. Cantrell said that the song, is a tribute to their late lead singer, Layne Staley. Elton John said in a statement, "I've long been an admirer of Jerry Cantrell and when he asked me to play on "Black Gives Way To Blue", I was very flattered and couldn't resist. It was a great recording session with Alice In Chains for a beautiful song". "Black Gives Way To Blue" arrives in stores on September 29th and is the first new Alice In Chains album in 14 years. The album features the debut of the group with new lead singer and guitarist, William DuVall. Original frontman, Layne Staley died in 2002.
